It’s May today and summer is on its way!
This means CAMP!!
What
a fun time we are planning for our students
and new participants this year! I’d like to express that our
advanced and teen students will enjoy the training program we will be
conducting for you during camp.
Those of you who think you’ve
learned it all are going to have a blast getting to understand the
mechanics of horse training. Ground work as well as saddle training
will be included in this part of our summer program.
Our youngsters and
new campers will enjoy learning the basics with Pete, Tony, Buddy, and
Ziggy. Look forward to a little riding with Music and Misty too!
More
showmanship and pattern skills added to the agenda as well.
And…I haven’t forgotten how much everyone loves
Thursday’s games. Submit
your new game ideas to
orchidhillstables@hotmail.com today!
Let me know what games are your
favorite, too!
FOOD,
come on kids, tell me what you like besides hot
dogs and macaroni N’ cheese.
The last week of May we will be
having regular riding lessons! There will be camp that week, but at
this point it is a very small group. If you’d like to take
your lesson during the day we can accommodate that May 28-June 1.
Lessons will continue on Friday and Saturday throughout the summer.
7:30 and 8:30 A.M. are starting to have bidders, get your lesson space
soon!
Saturday May 5, is the Lake Placid Youth Sports Day, those of you
who attend a Lake Placid school probably received information on this
event. There will be games (with prizes), and carnival booths manned by
the Lake Placid high school athletic department and students. This
event is being put on to help spark an interest in physical activity
and athletic sports available for kids in Highlands County. Orchid Hill
Stables will have a booth full of information about our riding
programs. If you would like to help pass out flyers at our booth or
just visit please stop by! The carnival will be held in DeVane Circle
Park in Lake Placid from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M., Bar-B-Que and
concessions will be available.

Trail Rides:
We had a fabulous ride on a shaded trail this past
weekend! There is no ride scheduled for May, but if there is interest
in a trail ride we can set it up. The trail we took this time would be
the one we would want to ride on if we ride in May. The shade was nice
and the trail was well maintained. Remember Families can ride together
or at least come out and have lunch with the riders! We always make too
much food! Beans anyone?
Saturday
morning fun rides. What is it? While
regular private lessons are taking place you may ride the fields with
Miss Dian. These rides are same cost as a lesson, but you must arrive
early to saddle your horse and care for him (un-tack, rinse, etc.)
after riding. We need ample notice if you want to fun ride so that your
ride does not conflict with that lesson horse’s regular
schedule that Saturday. This is just another fun way Orchid Hill
Stables is trying to serve our clients’ horsy habits.
New web
site up soon! www.orchidhillstables.com
Looking forward to new opportunities and activities to share with you
all this summer!
Sincerely,
Sarah Holton
