Congratulations to Samantha Allison, Katie Weekley, Taryn Patterson, Teja Dragovic, Rachel Wolf, Claire Leblanc, and Jak Giveon on their winnings at the Cracker Trail Saddle Club Open Fun Show! These kids worked so hard to get ready for this fun competition, and I (Sarah Holton) am very proud of each one of them! We really have awesome students at Orchid Hill Stables! Good sportsmanship was displayed by our riders and their families throughout the day. The cheers from our supporters made each participant feel awesome! Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and watch a few classes, again I love the way all my students encourage one another!

More fun is coming this weekend as Samantha, Taryn, and Katie travel to the Jacksonville Equestrian Center for the very first Arabian Community Horse Show held in Florida! (See the North Florida Arabian Horse Club website.) Not only will they be competing against other Arabian and Half/Arabian horses, but the points they earn will be recorded with the Arabian Horse Association under the Community Show program. Rio and Mr. Kool are really starting to shape into fabulous show horses! Our plans are to also attend the Arabian Celebration April 5 & 6 at the Canterbury Showplace in Newberry, FL. (Show Bill) We do have interest from a couple of students to compete at this event. If you are thinking about possibly entering a large Arabian horse show this would be a great opportunity.

The Arabian Celebration is an A rated show and results from the show will be printed on the Arabian Horse Association web site! Please check out this web site for more information on Arabian Community Shows and A show results.

With the weather cool and little rain in sight, this is the best time of year for horse shows, trail riding, and equestrian sports in general. More good news about horse showing... the Cracker Trail Saddle Club is going to hold another fun show on April 12, 2008! Let me know as soon as possible if you wish to attend this show, as I am expecting an awesome turn out of Orchid Hill Stables students!

Ok, SPRING BREAK!!! Yes, fun time out of school while the weather is cool! Of course we are having CAMP! March 31-April 3, 2008, are the dates for spring break camp. you can find all the camp details here. We will have mounted game time, but most of our focus will be on proper equitation for competition. Even if you don't plan on competing you will have a blast at camp, but those of you really wishing to brush up on showmanship and horsemanship patterns will benefit greatly.

TRAIL RIDE! There is a lot going on in March, but our dedicated trail riders deserve to get in on the cool weather rides too. Please let me know what date you would like to trail ride. The 22nd is the weekend of Easter and the 29th is the weekend of Spring Break. We can trail ride on either Saturday, and again this is your call. Let me know and we will pack the horses and bring the bar-b-q!
